Responsibilities
Contribute to the design, update, and communication of the company’s technology roadmap by collecting and translating external insights from literature, conferences, customer feedback, and supplier interactions
Perform early-stage scouting of emerging technologies, assessing scientific validity, scalability, manufacturability, and relevance to customer needs
Conduct structured competitive analyses, benchmarking emerging technologies against current company capabilities and market alternatives
Identify applications where company technical competencies could enable entry into adjacent or emerging markets, supporting concept ideation
Build a baseline external network by initiating relationships with academic researchers, startup founders, industry scientists, and technical organizations
Support due-diligence activities for potential partnerships or licensing opportunities through data gathering, preliminary technical evaluations, and risk profiling
Assist with technology project planning by preparing technical briefs, opportunity summaries, and feasibility assessments for internal stakeholders
Generate clear, concise documentation of technology assessments and contribute to invention disclosures, patents, and IP strategy discussions
Participate in cross-functional workshops and early R&D ideation sessions by introducing external insights and establishing links to market needs
Represent the company in external technical interactions and collect actionable intelligence from conferences, trade shows, and customer visits
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field and 14+ years of relevant experience
Master's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience
PhD and 8+ years of relevant experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience
