Traffic Civil Engineer

Responsibilities
Acts as a Staff Engineer as to the assigned tasks, including being responsible for keeping tasks on budget, and general results of tasks
Provide team mentorship. Plans, organizes, and delegate the work of a staff of junior engineers and technicians
Provide input to supervisor on scope and fee for proposal tasks.Serves as a technical specialist for the organization in the application of traffic engineering theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area of responsibility
Keeps abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purposes of recommending changes in emphasis of programs or new programs warranted by such developments
Responsible for client satisfaction and adhering to company’s Quality processes/methods
Conducts and oversees field work for the collection of traffic data, such as traffic counts, vehicle spot speed studies, sight distance measurements, delay studies, gap studies, etc
Oversees and prepares plans, specifications, quantities and cost estimates for the design of traffic engineering components of projects (including but not limited to, intersection geometry, signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, signal interconnect, roadway lighting, ITS, construction sequencing and work zone traffic control)
Oversees and prepares traffic safety studies, traffic impact studies, and planning studies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
Certified as a Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina, or could obtain licensure in the next six months
Minimum of 4 years' professional experience
Knowledge of the MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, Highway Capacity Manual, ITE Trip Generation Manual
Knowledge of North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) design standards and guidelines
Knowledge of various engineering software design systems, such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer, SignCAD, ProjectWise and AutoCAD Civil 3D
Knowledge of various capacity analysis software, such as Synchro and HCS
Knowledge of microsimulation software such as Transmodeler and VISSIM
