Clerical Support Specialist - 190 Days

Lexington School District Two is seeking a Clerical Support Specialist in Special Education. The role involves performing various secretarial and administrative duties to support the operation of the office, including maintaining special education files and coordinating meetings.

Education Management

Responsibilities

Accurately prepares/organizes/maintains a confidential special education file for
Coordinates the scheduling of IEP/504 & SAT meetings through the use of Google
Enters due dates into a calendar for all meetings
Contacts parent prior to scheduling meetings to check their availability
Sends all IEP/504 paperwork to parent/guardian within 7 days of the meeting
Organizes/maintains adequate sets of current special education forms for school use
Maintains and processes OT and PT referrals and rosters
Performs other duties as assigned by the SAT chairperson, principal or his/her
Creates meeting packets for teachers and provides to them before the meeting
Secures translators for all special education meetings as needed
Checks with Special Educators in each school served each week

Required

High school graduate or equivalent
Secretarial or clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and good working knowledge of Business English and grammar
Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and operations
Working knowledge of the principles of office management and of modern office procedures
Knowledge of the records and forms to be prepared and maintained, including knowledge of the Special Education program
Proficiency with technology skills, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access
Ability to interpret and apply detailed oral and written instructions
Ability to read and interpret documents
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively using Standard English before groups of employees of organization
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to pass a basic skills test and technology proficiency test
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
