City of Fort Wayne is seeking an Intern Technician to gain hands-on experience in fleet operations. The intern will assist technicians with maintenance and servicing of City vehicles, conduct inspections, and support daily shop operations.

Responsibilities

Assist technicians with preventive maintenance and basic servicing of City vehicles and equipment

Conduct visual inspections and report abnormal conditions

Safely move and porter vehicles within shop and work areas

Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces according to safety standards

Support daily shop operations and general maintenance activities

Qualification

Basic mechanical knowledgeInterest in automotiveSafety awarenessFollow instructions

Required

High school diploma or equivalent (or currently pursuing)

Interest in automotive, diesel, mechanical, or skilled trades fields

Strong safety awareness and ability to follow instructions

Valid Indiana Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

Preferred

Basic mechanical knowledge or related coursework preferred
