Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable and fixed assets
Ensure weekly and semi-monthly payroll is complete and accurate. Process payroll by acceptable deadline. Train support staff to assist in this process
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Complete month-end and year-end close processes
Comply with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Ensure Sales/Use tax preparation is complete and accurate and filed in timely manner. Manage process
Reconciliation of bank and credit card statements, general ledger, and adjustments
Maintain accurate job costing systems for fabrication and welding projects
Track work-in-process (WIP) and percentage-of-completion reporting
Analyze project margins, labor efficiency, material usage
Partner with operations and project managers to identify cost overruns and improvement opportunities
Systematically invoice customers in timely manner. Train support staff to assist in this process
Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity
Manage banking relationships, credit lines, and bonding requirements (if applicable)
Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and insurance reviews
Support compliance related to payroll taxes, sales/use tax, and contract requirements
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency
Serve as lead financial contact for ERP/accounting systems
Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and capital expenditures. (equipment, shop expansion, etc.)
Build administrative team that aligns with company values and growth
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction or any other service-related business
Strong experience with job costing
Extensive experience with QuickBooks Enterprise
Preferred
CPA or CMA designation
Experience with preparing and submitting Sales and Use tax
