Shipping and Receiving Lead

Responsibilities
Perform and oversee outbound shipping and inbound receiving operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with procedures and specifications
Verify inventory, documentation, and product condition during receiving and shipping processes
Coordinate workflow to meet daily operational priorities and deadlines
Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments (Production, Quality, Customer Service) to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams regarding orders, delays, or operational concerns
Serve as a working leader, actively participating in daily operations while leading by example
Train new and existing employees on processes, equipment, safety requirements, and quality standards
Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members
Support employee engagement, accountability, and adherence to performance expectations
Identify operational issues and inefficiencies through observation and data analysis
Utilize problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques to address recurring issues
Implement and support improvements related to process flow, productivity, accuracy, and quality
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support standard work development
Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, productivity, accuracy, and on-time delivery
Communicate performance results to leadership and team members
Use KPI data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and corrective actions
Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety rules, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Conduct safety observations and reinforce safe work practices
Ensure company policies and procedures are followed consistently
Report safety concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly and participate in corrective actions
Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and relevant publications to maintain knowledge of operations, and regulations
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Perform other duties as assigned to support the team, department, or organizational objectives
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
4-5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, shipping/receiving, or operations environment
Prior experience leading, training, or acting as a working lead or informal supervisor
Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations, including documentation, claims processing, inventory accuracy, and material flow
Ability to safely operate a DOT-regulated vehicle as required by the role
Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and maintain medical certification in accordance with applicable regulations
Ability to pass required DOT drug and alcohol screenings, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing, as required by law
Previous experience tracking and reporting KPIs
Ability to effectively train employees in processes, safety, and quality standards
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and participate in root cause analysis
Computer proficiency, including ability to use WMS/ERP systems, email, and spreadsheets for KPI tracking and reporting
