Patient Access Representative

Responsibilities
Greet and register patients accurately and efficiently
Verify insurance eligibility using online payer systems
Collect, enter, and balance patient payments per established procedures
Provide and complete required patient forms
Analyze, interpret, and enter physician orders
Scan, index, and maintain patient documentation
Schedule and communicate appointment details across multiple facilities and ancillary departments
Obtain insurance authorizations based on payer-specific criteria
Complete assigned work queues accurately and timely
Identify and refer patients for financial counseling when appropriate
Maintain confidentiality in all verbal, written, and electronic communications
Follow established workflows, protocols, and compliance standards
Take initiative to resolve issues and meet patient needs
Qualification
Required
Insurance background and experience
Previous customer service experience
Healthcare knowledge
High School Diploma or GED
Basic typing skills (45 WPM) and computer proficiency in a Windows environment
Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Preferred
Medical terminology knowledge
CPT and ICD-10 coding experience
Revenue cycle or patient access experience
Strong professionalism and reliability with time and attendance
