Responsibilities
Recruit and onboard a core engineering team (Data Engineers, Full-Stack Engineers, DevOps)
Build engineering processes, culture, and tooling from zero
Own hiring, performance, retention, and career growth
Manage external partners for EDI/API acceleration during the ramp-up phase
Deliver on-time, high-quality milestones:
Design and implement data schemas across existing platforms (e.g., Blue Yonder, CargoWise)
Launch a Unified Data Lake with high accuracy and real-time pipelines
Develop and prototype internal operational dashboards
Launch a proprietary Customer Portal to drive visibility and self-service
Ensure SOC 2 compliance, data governance, and cybersecurity standards
Enable rapid tech integration for future M&A acquisitions
Partner with the CTO to align the tech roadmap with revenue & EBITDA goals
Work with Operations and IT leadership to validate integrations and workflows
Support Sales by enabling cross-selling via real-time insights and tech capabilities
Present quarterly progress to the Executive Team and Board
Qualification
Required
10+ years in software engineering
5+ years leading engineering teams, with a proven track record of building 0-to-1 teams in mid-sized or growth-stage companies
Deep hands-on experience with: Cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Deep hands-on experience with: Data lakes, ETL/ELT, and real-time pipelines
Deep hands-on experience with: APIs, EDI, microservices, and full-stack web applications
Ability to translate business goals into technical priorities
Financial fluency: clear understanding of how engineering velocity impacts revenue growth and enterprise value
Preferred
Familiarity with logistics systems (WMS, TMS, ERP) is a strong plus
Experience in logistics, supply chain, or 3PL preferred
