Responsibilities
Review construction drawings, specifications, addendums, and scope documents to develop detailed cost estimates
Perform material take-offs for low voltage systems, including (but not limited to) structured cabling, access control, CCTV, intrusion, AV, and related technologies
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive and accurate pricing
Develop detailed proposals and bid packages for clients and general contractors
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to clarify scope, design intent, and project requirements
Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and RFI processes as needed
Maintain and update estimating templates, pricing databases, and historical cost information
Support handoff meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to operations
Qualification
Required
2–3 years of experience specifically in estimating for low voltage construction projects
Strong knowledge of low voltage systems, code requirements, and installation practices
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and specifications
Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage, D-Tools, Excel, or similar)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and mathematical abilities with high attention to detail
Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously
OSHA 10
Preferred
Experience with design-build or negotiated low voltage projects
Knowledge of BICSI standards or related low-voltage industry certifications
Familiarity with project management software
