Responsibilities
Oversee all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate resident care
Ensure proper assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident care
Monitor resident outcomes and address quality-of-care concerns
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
Supervise and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse managers)
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing staff
Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment
Address staff performance issues and conduct disciplinary actions when necessary
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CMS, state health departments)
Prepare for and participate in surveys, inspections, and audits
Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with regulations
Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
Ensure ongoing education, training, and competency evaluations for nursing staff
Stay current with best practices in long-term care nursing
Promote infection control, safety, and risk management programs
Qualification
Required
Active Michigan Registered Nurse License
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Current Basic Life Support Certification
Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing
At least 3 - 5 years of nursing experience
Preferred
Infection Preventionist Certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire, free program offered through CMS)
Experience in Matrix EMR
Strong servant leadership and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, serve as a positive role model
Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
