Senior Principal Cloud Technical Architect & Portfolio Owner
LCG Inc. is seeking a Senior Principal Cloud Technical Architect & Portfolio Owner to lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of cloud-centric solutions across a portfolio of federal IT programs. This role drives modernization initiatives, enterprise architecture standards, platform engineering, and cloud adoption across multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities
Serve as the technical authority for cloud solutions within your assigned portfolio, spanning modernization, platform architecture, automation, and application hosting
Define multi-cloud strategy, roadmaps, technical standards, and best practices aligned with agency missions
Architect secure cloud systems that comply with FISMA, FedRAMP, TIC 3.0, and federal security baselines
Guide cloud modernization efforts including containerization, microservices adoption, and infrastructure re-platforming
Design and prototype cloud-native architectures integrating data platforms, microservices, APIs, and automation frameworks
Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) and pilot solutions demonstrating modernization value
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and automated deployment environments
Ensure cloud solutions include observability (logging, monitoring, tracing), performance optimization, and lifecycle management
Troubleshoot production systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational excellence
Partner with other architects to build reusable enterprise cloud frameworks, IaC templates, and standardized design patterns
Conduct architecture review boards evaluating scalability, security, interoperability, and compliance
Contribute to LCG’s cloud modernization initiatives, including internal playbooks and reference architectures
Share lessons learned to drive consistency and standardization across cloud programs
Lead cloud solution development for RFIs/RFPs—including architectures, white papers, cloud costing, and technical volumes
Participate in client orals, representing LCG’s cloud strategy and technical thought leadership
Develop cost and resource estimates for cloud components in proposals and recompetes
Ensure knowledge transfer, documentation, and transition support during program onboarding or handover
Mentor teams of cloud engineers, developers, and analysts on cloud best practices, DevSecOps, IaC, and modernization strategies
Develop training roadmaps for staff upskilling in cloud modernization, container platforms, and security
Foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and operational excellence
Implement governance practices for architectural decisioning, cost management, security, and compliance
Produce documentation covering cloud architectures, data flows, security controls, and engineering patterns
Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure all systems adhere to federal mandates and cloud security frameworks
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
12+ years in IT, with at least 7+ years in cloud architecture or enterprise modernization roles
Proven experience designing, deploying, and scaling cloud solutions in regulated or federal environments
Deep understanding of: Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (services across compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and integration)
Container and orchestration platforms: Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, AKS, GKE
DevSecOps & Automation: Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps tools
Data & application modernization: cloud-native databases, analytical platforms, serverless architectures, migration frameworks
Networking & security: Zero Trust, IAM, encryption, segmentation, logging/monitoring
Strong foundation in governance, cost optimization, and secure cloud operations
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred
Master's degree in Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Cybersecurity, or related discipline
Experience working in federal contracting (HHS, NIH, DoD, etc.)
Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF, or similar
Experience developing reusable cloud accelerators, reference architectures, templates, or modernization frameworks
