Responsibilities
Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring that all prior operations have been completed
Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plate or to flatten, temper, or reduce gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operation procedures
Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances
Inspect sample work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators
Follow standard operating procedures to check, test, login, logout, and thread roll good quality parts, coordinating with department’s supervisor or lead during the process
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
1-2 years of experience
The ability to read and write English
An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals
A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use
A basic knowledge of machine tools
The ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers
Capable of setting up and running parts as required
Preferred
Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required
GED or High school diploma preferred but not required
