The role focuses on advocating for vulnerable individuals in asylum and humanitarian immigration matters, representing clients before immigration courts, and preparing legal documentation.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Represent clients in asylum cases, including affirmative and defensive asylum applications
Handle humanitarian immigration matters such as VAWA, U visas, T visas, TPS, and related relief
Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
Prepare and file legal briefs, motions, affidavits, and supporting documentation
Conduct client consultations and assess eligibility for immigration relief
Appear at master calendar and individual hearings
Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and case managers to ensure timely and accurate case preparation
Stay current with changes in U.S. immigration law, policies, and procedures
Qualification
Required
Active license to practice law in any U.S. state (good standing)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law, with a strong focus on asylum, humanitarian relief, and court cases
Demonstrated experience appearing before Immigration Courts and handling removal defense
Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills
Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and client-management skills
Preferred
Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or another foreign language is a strong plus
