Quantum Scientist
Apollo Quantum is hiring a Quantum Scientist to analyze and evaluate quantum computing technologies, spanning applications and algorithms, fault-tolerant architectures, and quantum hardware. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to turn incomplete information into structured analysis.

Responsibilities
Evaluate technical material and data describing quantum computing technologies, analyzing proposed system architectures across physical, logical, and algorithmic layers with a focus on plausibility of utility-scale performance
Develop and apply software models to test assumptions and performance projections
Travel to and participate in several planned on-site meetings and evaluations per year
Produce clear technical assessments and written analyses
Qualification
Required
PhD or equivalent experience in physics, computer science, or a related field
Strong background in one or more of: fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, fault-tolerant compilation and architectures, quantum error correction and fault tolerance, resource estimation and full-stack system modeling, any major quantum hardware modalities (e.g., superconducting, photonic, trapped atoms, etc.)
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience developing scientific software, including proficiency with tools such as git and python
Excellent collaboration skills, able to amplify the work of others within a multidisciplinary team
Visas or other work authorization are not currently sponsored for this role. You must already be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred
Experience independently reproducing results from quantum computing papers
Experience with one or more of the following: Quantum software frameworks (e.g., cirq, qualtran, qiskit)
Quantum simulation tools (e.g. stim, qutip)
Contributions to or development of technical software packages (with priority given to python)
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage technical work independently while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
