Responsibilities
API Architecture: Design and build REST or GraphQL APIs (aligned with organizational standards) with full OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
Data Governance: Implement complex business rules, including exclusion logic and suppression of specific counts to prevent PII exposure
Service Excellence: Develop a "data availability" endpoint to communicate system limitations and gaps transparently to the UI
Performance & Security: Integrate API gateways, rate limiting, and server-side caching to ensure high performance under public load
Pipeline Collaboration: Partner with Data Management Offices to define ETL processes, including verified address mapping and automated calculation testing
Qualification
Required
Expertise in versioning strategies and standard query parameter implementation (Geographic, Metric, and Temporal filters)
Ability to deliver standardized response payloads containing both metadata (suppression policies, refresh cadence) and data payloads
Deep understanding of public read-only access patterns and protection against system abuse
Proven track record of creating operational runbooks, data dictionaries, and developer portal documentation
