This role will be responsible for overseeing revenue accounting processes, improving reporting accuracy, and managing the transition of revenue accounting in-house.

Responsibilities
Serve as the lead in-house revenue accounting resource, overseeing all revenue processes and deliverables
Review, validate, and reconcile revenue entries and reports prepared by an external outsourcing provider, identifying errors and driving timely correction
Act as the primary liaison between the company and the outsourcing firm, setting expectations, monitoring performance, and escalating issues as needed
Own the month-end revenue close process for onshore properties in Texas and New Mexico, including journal entries, reconciliations, and management reporting
Prepare clear, accurate, and timely revenue reports and analysis for the Controller, CFO, and operations leadership
Partner with land, production, and division order teams to ensure accurate decks, volumes, pricing, and ownership
Recommend and implement process improvements, controls, and best practices to reduce recurring errors and strengthen data integrity
Play a key role in planning and executing the eventual transition of revenue accounting from outsourced to in-house, including documentation of processes and potential system clean-up
Qualification
Required
10+ years of progressive oil and gas revenue accounting experience, including recent experience in a lead, senior, supervisor, or manager-level capacity
Strong background with U.S. onshore properties, ideally including Texas and New Mexico
Proven track record reviewing others' work, catching errors, and improving the quality and consistency of revenue reporting
Experience working with third-party accounting providers or shared service environments is strongly preferred
Proficiency with OGSYS or On Demand, and advanced Excel skills
Strong understanding of monthly close, GAAP revenue recognition, and regulatory/reporting requirements for oil and gas revenue
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with Controllers, CFOs, operations, and external partners
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; CPA or CMA a plus
