Licensed HVAC Operations Manager
Brightpath Associates LLC is an established HVAC business in Connecticut undergoing acquisition. They are seeking a Licensed HVAC Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day HVAC operations, ensure compliance with state regulations, and lead a team of service technicians and installers.

Responsibilities
Serve as the licensed contractor of record for HVAC operations in Connecticut, ensuring all contracted work remains within the scope of the active CT credential
Establish and enforce policies that ensure only properly licensed and/or supervised personnel perform regulated work, consistent with CT expectations for licensed skilled trades
Oversee permit strategy and inspection readiness; verify installations meet applicable building/mechanical code requirements and manufacturer specifications
Maintain license in good standing: track renewal deadlines, continuing education (as applicable), and promptly address any compliance inquiries
Ensure proper use of subcontractors for any work requiring a different trade license or outside the company’s licensed scope
Direct daily operations across service, maintenance, replacements, and installs (residential and/or commercial depending on business mix)
Set standards for diagnostics, repair vs. replace recommendations, load/fit considerations, commissioning, combustion analysis (where applicable), and customer communication
Implement quality control checkpoints: pre-job review, install verification, start-up/commissioning forms, and post-job audit to reduce callbacks
Lead on-call escalation for complex technical issues and high-risk customer situations
Partner with dispatch to optimize routing, response time, and technician utilization; manage seasonal surge planning
Own operational KPIs such as: callback rate, first-time fix rate, average ticket, gross margin by job type, PM agreement conversion, and closeout cycle time
Review estimates and change orders for technical accuracy and margin integrity; support quoting for complex projects
Drive inventory/parts discipline: truck stock standards, vendor coordination, warranty parts tracking, and core returns
Lead, coach, and evaluate technicians/installers; create clear skills matrices and progression plans
Enforce safety and compliance practices: PPE, ladder safety, lockout/tagout where applicable, refrigerant recovery practices, and incident reporting
Recruit, hire, and onboard technicians (in partnership with ownership/HR) and build a bench of capable leads
Handle escalations, warranty disputes, and quality complaints with a structured resolution process
Ensure documentation supports consumer transparency and protects the business: photos, model/serial capture, start-up readings, invoices, permits, and inspection records
Support strong customer experience standards to protect online reputation and referral channels
Qualification
Required
Active Connecticut DCP HVAC contractor license appropriate to operate the business's services, in good standing
Significant, demonstrable HVAC experience, typically: 10+ years in HVAC (service and/or installation), with depth in diagnosing and resolving complex issues; and 3+ years leading crews/operations (service manager, install manager, field supervisor, operations manager, or owner-operator)
Proven ability to run operations with accountability: scheduling discipline, job quality control, and margin awareness
Working knowledge of permitting/inspection processes and code-driven installation standards
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to pass background screening consistent with customer-site work
Preferred
EPA Section 608 certification
Experience running a multi-crew shop (dispatch + service + install) with measurable KPI improvement
Familiarity with common HVAC field software (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge, etc.) and digital pricebooks
Gas combustion analysis expertise; hydronics/boilers experience
