Responsibilities
Advise clients on their rights under workers’ compensation laws and regulations
Investigate workplace injury claims, gather medical records, and obtain expert reports
Prepare and file workers’ compensation claims, petitions, motions, and appeals
Represent clients in hearings, mediations, depositions, and administrative proceedings
Negotiate with employers, insurance companies, and opposing counsel for favorable outcomes
Evaluate settlement offers and provide clients with strategic legal guidance
Communicate regularly with clients, medical providers, and adjusters
Maintain accurate case files, documentation, and compliance with filing deadlines
Stay current on changes to state workers’ compensation laws and case precedents
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active bar membership in the relevant state(s)
Strong knowledge of workers' compensation statutes and administrative procedures
Excellent negotiation, litigation, and written/oral advocacy skills
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet strict deadlines
Virginia Bar Required
Preferred
Prior experience in workers' compensation, personal injury, or insurance defense
Familiarity with medical terminology and injury-related documentation
Strong client communication and empathy for injured workers
