They are seeking a Mainframe and Infrastructure Support Specialist responsible for installing and maintaining software, monitoring performance, and ensuring the availability and reliability of mission-critical applications.

Information Technology

Responsibilities

Performs day-to-day backup, recovery, performance and tuning, monitoring of batch cycles, updating technical documentation, monitoring log files and error handling, problem determination and resolution, and deployment
Communicates with and coordinates the effort of fellow team members to ensure the continuation and completion of work in progress from one shift to another
Works in OS/390 mainframe multi-platform environment on an assigned and rotating shift, monitoring all peripheral equipment using JES2, MVS, and UNIX commands
Prints high-volume user reports on specialized HP9000 laser printer
Checks JCL for condition codes and notifies programmers when expected conditions are not met
Logs problem entry reports
Applies standard corrective procedures on equipment malfunction calls for immediate or delayed service when necessary
Checks quality control, reviews, and checks flow of work in and out of center
Assists in devising new procedures, forms, and diagrams
Maintains record of all work performed on the turnover log
Resolves difficult computer operation problems efficiently and effectively
Maintains system integrity and notifies the supervisor of any irregularities
Collects and reports performance data
Reviews CA-7 to submit or modify JCL when required
Analyzes, develops, and recommends production procedures
Assembles job stream inputs, organizes them for submission to the computer and adjusts backlog to handle problem runs, special runs, system failures, etc
Review system message logs, identify incomplete jobs that did not process correctly, and initiate actions required to reprocess aborted or incorrect jobs
Contact the supervisor if an emergency arises
Provides technical guidance to less experienced technicians in their tasks
Assists in maintaining the online communication network

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or other technical discipline
Experience with Solaris and MVS platforms
Experience in fundamental system and database administration, tuning, and backup/recovery
Computer operations experience in ZOS mainframe environment with JES2, MVS CA-1 and CA-7 skills
Experience with working in a multi-platform environment
Experience with JCL
Advanced knowledge of components of z/OS operating system (MVS), CIS/TS, TSO, JES2, WL and interaction
Diverse knowledge of multiple products including: IBM System software including; SMPE, HCD/IOD, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, TSO/ISPF, DFSOT, CICS/TS, SDSF, MF, WLM, OMEGAMON, WebSphere MQ, Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT); and OEM system software including; CA-Common Services, RIM, CAENF, CA-IDMS, CA-ACF2, CA-7, CA-11, CA-PANVALET, CA-TPX, CAMVS/OPS, CA-DOCCI, CA-1, CA-MIM, CA-Easytreive Plus, CA-JARS, Focus, FDR/ABR, ViewDirect/Document Direct, VPS, JSF, DIF, Quickref, Jobscan, Code-1 Plus, MailStream Plus MSP, EMC TIMEFINDER MIROR/SNAP/CLONE
Experience performing special database backups, restore, and refresh using FDR/ABR software
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Able to install and integrate third-party software
Able to document troubleshoot problems and communicate with business and technical personnel at all levels
Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
The ability to pass a background check is required
