Asset Technician

This role involves supporting the inventory management and maintenance of IT endpoint devices, performing troubleshooting and repairs, and assisting with asset management workflows.

Responsibilities

Assist with receiving, inspecting, and recording incoming and outgoing IT endpoint devices and peripherals, adhering to documented standards. Support the receipt, movement, and delivery of equipment stock and pallets
Maintain accurate records of IT assets, including desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, thin clients, and peripherals, using ServiceNow hardware asset management software
Assist in conducting regular audits of endpoint inventory to identify discrepancies, damages, or missing items, and help reconcile any issues found
Participate in meetings related to project hardware movements and storage
Help implement asset management workflows and tools to improve inventory tracking and reporting. Report issues and suggest potential solutions to management
Follow established IT policies and procedures for inventory management, asset tagging, security, and disposal
Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on IT endpoint devices, such as replacing batteries, keyboards, screens, and hard drives. Assist in coordinating repairs, replacements, or maintenance under warranty or service agreements with vendors and external providers
Support unboxing, applying asset tags, installing base images, configuring, and re-boxing new or used laptops and desktops. Assist with unboxing and tagging tablets and phones in the central imaging center. Record asset tag information (e.g., serial numbers) on spreadsheets for import into Active Directory, ServiceNow, and other tracking systems
Help connect hardware to networks and KVM devices for imaging, configuration, and setup. Establish initial network connectivity for new devices per procedures and troubleshoot basic issues
Assist with software installations, verify that imaged devices meet security requirements, and ensure compliance with IT hardware/software standards
Support configuring multiple machines simultaneously in a mass production environment, focusing on attention to detail and adherence to documented procedures
Provide timely status updates on device imaging assignments and notify leadership of any deviations from standards
Assist with warehouse/depot inventory control and shipments to secondary locations
Serve as a member of the delivery team, including driving enterprise vehicles when required

Preferred

Understanding of laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones, and related peripherals
Familiarity with basic troubleshooting and repair methods
Experience with ServiceNow or similar inventory management systems preferred
Competence in using Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
Team player with the ability to build long term relationships
Ability to communicate effectively with end users, vendors, and suppliers
High attention to detail and accuracy required
Excellent Customer service and problem-solving skills
