Senior LevelDraco Intelligence is an early-stage dual-use hardware company building ultralight AR HUD systems for high-movement environments across sport and defense. They are seeking a Founding Engineer & Technical Co-Founder to design, prototype, and own the AR-enabled hardware systems that power their wearable platform.

Responsibilities
Designing and prototyping hardware subsystems that support an AR wearable platform
Working across AR display integration, electronics, firmware bring-up, and physical packaging
Making system-level tradeoffs around size, weight, power, latency, thermal limits, and reliability
Ensuring AR display performance and usability under motion, vibration, and environmental stress
Testing systems across high-movement, outdoor, and real-world environments
Collaborating closely with teammates responsible for optics, AR software, and interaction design
Supporting early manufacturing decisions and rapid design-for-iteration cycles
Translating operator and high-performance user feedback into system-level engineering decisions
Qualification
Required
Background in hardware engineering, embedded systems, mechatronics, or systems engineering
Experience working on AR/VR systems, head-mounted displays, or optical-electronic platforms
Experience building real, physical hardware (wearables, robotics, aerospace, defense, IoT, etc.)
Comfort working across hardware, AR systems, and software interfaces without needing to own the entire stack
Strong hands-on prototyping, debugging, and iteration skills
Bias toward execution, speed, and learning through building
Preferred
Experience with AR display pipelines, sensor fusion, or perception systems
Experience with low-power systems, wireless communication, or sensor integration
Experience working in constrained, safety-critical, or high-reliability environments
Comfort operating in early-stage, fast-moving teams with high ownership
