Responsibilities
Lead and develop high functioning and cross-trained personal and commercial underwriting and product teams who can support entry into new markets and manage fluctuations in new business volumes
Contribute to underwriting and product strategy development, including portfolio segmentation, appetite refinement, and growth prioritization
Partner with actuarial and finance on scenario analysis, rate adequacy assessments, and product performance forecasting
Evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics and legislative changes
Support executive leadership with insights related to CAT exposure, geographic concentration and volatility reduction
Promote data-driven underwriting decisions utilizing internal analytics, predictive modeling and external data sources
Ensure underwriting practices and operations align with the Company’s risk appetite, internal controls and regulatory requirements
Create seamless operational processes utilizing current technology that drives efficiency and high-quality service for internal and external clients
Lead product lifecycle execution, including rule changes, form updates, coverage optimization, and underwriting criteria enhancement
Lead cross-functional executive of new product development initiatives, ensuring timely, compliant launches aligned with underwriting strategy, regulatory requirements, and enterprise growth objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related degree
10-14 years of progressive experience in property underwriting and/or product management
Experience with homeowners, commercial residential, and/or apartment/multifamily insurance
Experience supporting regulatory filings, audits, and examinations
Experience successfully building and leading high-performing personal and commercial underwriting and product teams
Experience working with an independent agent distribution model
Proven ability to develop and implement underwriting and product development strategies that drive profitable revenue growth
Results-oriented and adaptable with a strategic mentality
In-depth knowledge of market research and predictive modeling methods and analysis
Skilled at bringing a team together to move them in one direction
Transformative leader with a passion for underwriting innovation and building new capabilities
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively to ensure initiatives are implemented on schedule
Solid working proficiencies of business operations, procedures, and priorities with a strong ability to support change and impart value within an organization
Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred
Experience in Florida or catastrophe-exposed markets strongly preferred
Professional designations (CPCU, ARM) preferred
