Building Engineer

The Building Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of hospital buildings and equipment, requiring skills in various building trades while also leading and training staff in plant operations functions.

Responsibilities
Ability to safely and competently perform assigned duties
Models outstanding customer service skills using “Simply Better” and AIDET principles
Communicates effectively in written and verbal form
Demonstrates composure and appropriateness in performance of duties under duress
Performs advanced maintenance within the building trades
Responds to emergency situations involving either patient safety or building safety according to hospital policies and procedures and/or regulatory requirements (In emergency response situations, may be assigned a lead role in response and recovery e.g. HICS)
Ability to be at work and be on time
Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives
Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Qualification
Required
Four (4) to Five (5) Years Healthcare Maintenance or Facilities Management experience
Proven proficiency in four (4) trade minimum
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to effectively communicate with all outside vendors and clients
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Preferred
One (1) year certificate from college or technical school
Certification and or licensed in a trade such as but not limited to: LA CO. 500hp. Boiler License (or equivalent)
CFC refrigerant recover license (or equivalent)
