Meat Manager

Responsibilities
Maintains an enthusiastic atmosphere focused on fast and friendly customer service

Plans daily operations and monitors production processes according to company procedures and profitability goals
Trims, cuts, wraps, trays, and displays meat products. Builds meat and seafood displays, rotates stock, and removes spoiled or outdated product. Maintains a clean department and work area
Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays. May oversee the operation and maintenance of the meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block
Maintains department standards, including proper handling of quick-sale items
Performs cutting tests on meat products to monitor profitability
Ensures trim specifications, cutting standards, and temperature requirements are consistently followed across preparation, display, and storage
Schedules, supervises, trains, and assigns duties to department employees
Monitors employee productivity and evaluates performance
Schedules staff to ensure proper coverage and service levels
Has full working knowledge of all department roles, including cutting, grinding, and wrapping fresh meat
Understands and performs opening and closing procedures
Trains staff on policies, sales practices, and record-keeping procedures
Identifies and develops high-potential employees for advancement
Maintains knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Initiates personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions
Prepares sales and inventory reports; conducts physical inventory every 4 weeks
Controls inventory to ensure product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintains levels per division directives. Stocks and rotates product. Maintains and organizes the meat cooler
Controls shrink and expenses
Ensures proper product preparation techniques are followed
Operates equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, grinders, saws, saw blades, and cubers
Completes and monitors daily log sheets, Production Charts, Meat Grinding Logs, Sales and Labor reports, and other required documentation
Performs receiving duties: breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product. Follows proper temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines
Ensures proper product temperatures, accurate pricing, and compliance with labeling laws, including COOL (Country of Origin Labeling). Adheres to federal, state, and company code dating regulations
Follows all workplace safety rules and maintains a clean, safe work area, cooler, freezer, cutting room, and displays
Uses emergency procedures when equipment or software malfunctions occur
Attends and participates in sales meetings. Communicates sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to employees
Ensures compliance with company grooming standards and dress code
Performs all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity
Performs other duties as required
