Senior DevOps Engineer
Wimora is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to play a critical role in designing, operating, and scaling high-performance, low-latency trading infrastructure. This hands-on role involves owning automation, tooling, observability, and operational excellence, while collaborating with software engineers, traders, and quants in a performance-driven environment.

Responsibilities
Architect, build, and maintain highly reliable, low-latency infrastructure supporting automated trading systems
Own end-to-end DevOps practices across on-prem, co-located data centers, and containerized platforms
Design and implement automation for deployments, workflows, system operations, and data pipelines
Develop internal tooling to improve system reliability, observability, performance, and operational efficiency
Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex, production-critical issues spanning applications, networks, operating systems, and hardware
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management practices
Manage and optimize containerized environments and support application deployments in latency-sensitive systems
Partner with engineers and quants to ensure production readiness, scalability, and fault tolerance
Support database administration, monitoring, performance tuning, and reliability as part of overall platform health
Design and refine logging, metrics, alerting, and monitoring to enable rapid detection and response during trading hours
Produce and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Participate in on-call or rotation-based support during critical trading windows
Mentor junior engineers and help establish DevOps best practices across the organization
Qualification
Required
8+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
Proven experience operating mission-critical, high-performance production systems
Deep expertise in Linux and strong working knowledge of Windows environments
Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, networking, storage, containers, and applications
Advanced scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages
Hands-on experience with containerization technologies and deployment workflows
Solid understanding of databases, monitoring, performance tuning, and reliability concepts
Experience implementing observability best practices (metrics, logs, alerts)
Familiarity with data formats such as JSON, XML, and Parquet
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in time-sensitive environments
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, trading, and research teams
Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on documentation, process, and operational excellence
Ability to work on-site in Chicago and lift up to 50 pounds when required
Fully remote work is not an option
Preferred
Experience in proprietary trading, financial services, or low-latency systems
Exposure to co-located data centers or hardware-adjacent infrastructure
Background in performance optimization, network tuning, or systems engineering
Experience mentoring or acting as a technical lead
