Controls Engineer or Sr. Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

Design and update technical diagrams, schematics, SCADA block diagrams, and control logic
Lead automation projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines and specifications are met
Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and advanced automation equipment
Optimize control algorithms and system performance for reliability, safety, and efficiency
Upgrade and adapt existing systems to meet evolving business and production requirements
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to controls and instrumentation
Perform system testing, validation, and preventive maintenance
Analyze data to identify performance or quality gaps and recommend improvements
Maintain accurate system documentation, configurations, and change records
Provide training and technical support to ensure knowledge transfer across teams

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
4-5 years' experience in designing, installing, and maintaining industrial control systems
Strong background in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming and configuration
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (or similar) and industrial networking protocols
Intermediate understanding of control theory, electrical systems, and automation technologies
Skilled in ladder logic, structured text, and HMI development
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to lead complex projects independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or related engineering field (Master's preferred)
5-7 years of experience designing, installing, and maintaining industrial control systems
Expertise in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, with proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and industrial networking protocols
Advanced knowledge of control theory, automation technologies, and electrical systems
Proficiency in ladder logic, structured text and HMI development
Proven ability to lead projects from concept to completion, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Effective leadership and communication skills, with experience guiding teams and collaborating cross-functionally
High attention to detail, with a commitment to safety, accuracy, and quality
Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred

Certified Automation Professional (ISA) and/or project management experience is a plus
Professional certifications such as CAP or PMP are a plus
