Responsibilities

Conduct field investigations of complaints on abandoned and neglected vehicles
Conduct field inspections of various vehicles for compliance with City ordinances and State laws, including: Taxi, tour, tow, U-drive vehicles, Pedicabs, mopeds, and passenger-carrying trucks, Reconstructed vehicles and safety inspection stations
Verify companies (e.g., taxi, U-drive, tour, pedicab) have valid business licenses and permits
Perform other duties and responsibilities of the position

Required

Must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
Equivalent to graduation from high school
Two (2) years of experience in inspectional, investigative, instructional or repair work which shall have included ascertaining the overall mechanical, operating and safety condition of motor vehicles
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation
