Responsibilities

Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to payer and regulatory guidelines for medical insurance claims processing and reimbursement
Interviews patients to obtain, clarify and verify all demographic and insurance information and determines status of financial clearance, as needed
Identifies and obtains required pre-certifications, authorizations, and/or referrals and enter all information in the appropriate registration and billing systems
Performs verification of benefits, either electronically or by telephone, according to PHC procedures and guidelines
Analyzes patients ability to meet financial obligations and sets up appropriate payment plans
Identify insurance guidelines and communicate necessary steps to clinic staff, including physician

Required

1 year experience as a FSA I or equivalent experience working in an outpatient/physician office environment including financial counseling, insurance verification and authorization
