Responsibilities
Serve as the designated signing actuary for Statements of Actuarial Opinion and related actuarial certifications, as required by the engagement
Lead actuarial methodology selection, assumption setting, and application for healthcare and insurance reserving engagements
Develop, review, and approve unpaid loss liability estimates, reserve ranges, and actuarial conclusions
Ensure full compliance with ASOPs, professional standards, and applicable regulatory or contractual requirements
Provide independent professional judgment on complex actuarial matters
Oversee, review, and mentor actuarial consultants and analysts supporting the engagement
Respond to technical inquiries from auditors, regulators, and client stakeholders
Translate complex actuarial analyses into clear, executive-level advisory insights and management summaries
Participate in client briefings, technical reviews, and audit discussions
Maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation supporting actuarial methodologies, assumptions, and conclusions
Collaborate closely with financial reporting, accounting, and advisory teams to ensure alignment across deliverables
Support engagement planning, quality assurance, and risk management activities
Other consulting duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Fellow (FCAS) or Associate (ACAS) of the Casualty Actuarial Society and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive actuarial experience within healthcare, insurance, public-sector, or self-insured environments
Demonstrated experience serving as, or supporting, the signing actuary for Statements of Actuarial Opinion
Equivalent combination of credentials and senior-level actuarial consulting experience
Demonstrated expertise in healthcare and/or insurance reserving and actuarial opinion work
Strong professional judgment and ability to operate independently in a consulting environment
Proven experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and external technical inquiries
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly
Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent consulting engagements
High degree of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
Advanced proficiency in actuarial tools, Excel, and analytical modeling
Comfortable working in a fully remote, client-facing consulting environment
Frequent interaction with client finance leaders, executives, and senior stakeholders
Regular engagement with external auditors and technical reviewers
Ongoing collaboration with actuarial, financial reporting, and advisory consulting teams
Remote, project-based consulting role with flexibility to support multiple client engagements
Willingness and ability to travel as required by project scope, client needs, audit requirements, or regulatory engagements
Availability during standard business hours, with flexibility during peak reporting or audit periods
Ability to participate in virtual and in-person meetings, client briefings, and audit discussions
Extended periods of computer-based analytical, documentation, and review work
Ability to travel domestically (and internationally, if applicable) for client meetings, site visits, or stakeholder engagements
