Mechanical Development Engineer

The Mechanical Development Engineer will be responsible for managing mechanical engineering projects through all phases, ensuring successful design and adherence to processes while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical contact for Mikron Denver Mechanical Development Engineering projects
Ensure successful design of development projects within budget and delivery expectations
Lead team meetings to drive project progress, collaborate on problems, and identify risks to quality, schedule, and budgets
Ramp-up newly assigned engineers on projects
Facilitate, maintain, and enforce the design process, including design reviews and documentation
Ensure adherence to department processes and standards throughout project phases
Lead the selection and planning of future Mechanical Development projects
Support design projects from conceptualization and initial design through testing, documentation, and finalization
Assist in creating the project User Requirement Specification (URS)
Ensure quality of designs per approved URS requirements and Mikron standards
Collaborate with suppliers for development projects
Collaborate with Key Accounts Managers to identify unmet customer needs
Provide feedback on potential risks to budgeted hours, costs, or schedule
Coordinate with the Manager to set weekly team goals focused on schedule and budget
Facilitate solutions to design problems with stakeholders throughout the design process
Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively with customers, peers, colleagues of differing technical backgrounds, and all levels of management
Communicate and align with other Mikron site development teams regarding upcoming projects, feedback on existing projects, and serve as the point of contact for companywide Mechanical Development information
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager
Participate in project design reviews and drive adoption of Mikron’s Development standards
Participate in designing solutions for standardization
Organize resource requests for interdepartmental assistance
Participate in customer meetings as requested by management
Mentor and review mechanical designs by Mechanical Engineers
Support software design specifications with the Control Engineer
Support software development with the development team
Assist the Validation team in creating validation packages when necessary
Review external systems design and integration
Identify design and 2D drawing mistakes in peer reviews
Release materials to the ERP system
Document and communicate design intent to project technical teams
Maintain a customer focus in all work and communications

Required

Eligible to work in the United States
Valid state driver's license
Ability to travel as requested
Availability to work overtime
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years' experience or 9 years of relevant experience
Achievement of Associate Mechanical Engineer Level I expectations or technical abilities
Ability to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team
Willingness to work off-shift hours and holidays
Successful performance of main responsibilities within 6 months of hire
Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD)

Preferred

Knowledge of industry-accepted engineering practices
