SIGN TECHNICIAN (Part-Time)

Iron County is seeking a part-time Sign Technician to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties related to the preparation, manufacturing, and installation of signs and warning devices. The role involves working under the supervision of the Iron County Engineer and assisting the Senior Sign Technician with various tasks.

Required

High School diploma or equivalent is required
At least one (1) year of verifiable equipment operating, construction, or closely related job experience
Must have valid Utah Driver License
Must be able to perform heavy lifting up to and over 50 lbs
Must have and maintain a valid Utah Drivers License
Attend any required training seminars when scheduled
Attend scheduled defensive driving courses, and UDOT Flagging school as required to obtain and maintain certification
Maintain compliance with Iron County Drug and Alcohol Policies and guidelines
Knowledge of mechanical applications
Knowledge of road construction methods and techniques
Knowledge of basic computer entry and operation
Knowledge of work zone regulations
Knowledge of GPS computer systems
Knowledge of welding and fabricating
Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
Skill in operating hand tools
Skill in operating heavy equipment
Skill in operating road construction machinery
Skill in basic mathematics
Ability to effectively communicate instructions to contractors/act as lead on projects/jobs when assigned
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of regular work activities
Ability to be self-motivated
Ability to work safely and efficiently
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds (occasionally more)
Ability to work unsupervised and accept responsibility for actions
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the general public
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize daily assignments and work activities
Ability to communicate via radio and telephone
Ability to read basic blueprints, plans and specifications
Ability to meet and deal with the public in a positive manner
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Must be able to pass an extensive pre-employment background screening
