Responsibilities
Teach core courses in the music theory sequence
Mentor and advise students
Attend faculty meetings
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in music
a record of, or clear potential for, professional development presentations at conferences
demonstrated leadership potential in the field
demonstrated success in teaching music theory at the college/university levels (including graduate assistantships)
Preferred
Doctoral degree in music theory
three or more years of experience teaching music at the college/university level
competence in and engagement with vernacular, popular, indigenous, and non-Western musical practices
understanding of and experience with teaching populations that reflect UIC's urban student body
