Construction Safety Intern
MWH Constructors is a global leader in heavy civil construction focusing on water and wastewater facilities. They are seeking a construction safety intern to assist with jobsite safety orientations, daily safety observations, and compliance with safety requirements at the Portland Water Bureau Bull Run Water Treatment Project.

Responsibilities
Assist with jobsite safety orientations for new hires, visitors, and subcontractors
Conduct daily jobsite safety observations and document findings
Support Job Hazard Analysis (JHA/JSA) development and field implementation
Participate in toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings
Assist with incident reporting, near-miss documentation, and follow-up actions
Help track and organize safety documentation (training records, inspections, permits)
Support compliance with OSHA, project-specific, and client safety requirements
Observe and assist with safety audits and inspections
Engage with field crews to reinforce safe work practices
Complete a capstone or summary project focused on safety improvement, observations, or lessons learned
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Strong interest in construction safety and field operations
Ability to work in an active construction environment
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Willingness to follow and promote safety policies at all times
Preferred
Prior construction, safety, or field experience (internship, labor, coursework)
OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain)
Familiarity with safety documentation or reporting tools
