The role focuses on nanostructural characterization using electron microscopy techniques to enhance the understanding of the structural origins of superconducting properties in various materials.

Responsibilities

Perform nanostructural characterization using a variety of electron microscopy techniques
Focus on improving our understanding of the micro-, meso-, nano- and atomic-scale structural origins of the superconducting properties of high field superconductor tapes, wires, thin film and bulks
Operate advanced electron microscopes including an aberration-corrected atomic resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscope (S/TEM) and a focused ion beam (FIB) equipped FESEM
Actively participate in research as a member of a highly interactive and collaborative group
Help post-docs build a successful career in scientific research

Qualification

TEM/STEM operationFIB nano-fabricationCs-corrected STEMsEELS in STEMEDS in STEMEffective communication

Required

Ph.D. in materials science, physics, engineering, chemistry, or related field completed within the last three years
Extensive prior experience in TEM/STEM operation and making TEM samples
Extensive prior experience preparing TEM specimens using FIB
Effective written and verbal communication skills as evinced by publications, presentations, cover letter, and references

Preferred

Experience operating Cs-corrected STEMs
Experience in EELS or EDS in STEM
