Responsibilities

Perform daily accounting activities including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
Prepare accurate and timely month-end financials, including balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss analysis, and supporting schedules
Manage client sales invoicing, payroll processing, and supplier payments in line with agreed timelines and internal controls
Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records
Calculate and arrange payment of superannuation, PAYG, and payroll tax across applicable jurisdictions
Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns, and other statutory compliance reports
Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements, audit deliverables, and supporting working papers
Support the wider finance team by delivering on commitments consistently and taking accountability for assigned tasks
Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, resolve issues, and enhance outcomes without needing direction
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure expectations, timelines, and deliverables are clearly understood

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline
Currently progressing toward CPA or CA qualification (or recently commenced)
Minimum 2+ years' experience in financial accounting
Demonstrated experience using Xero and/or other cloud-based accounting platforms
Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and Australian compliance requirements including GST, BAS, FBT, and PAYG
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confident working with Australian stakeholders in a professional services context
Able to explain financial matters clearly and concisely to non-finance audiences when required

Preferred

Experience within professional services, outsourced accounting, CFO advisory, or financial services environments
Familiarity with ASX reporting requirements and processes
Exposure to accounting automation tools or data/reporting platforms
