Sr. HW Design Engineer

The Senior Electrical Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and documenting complex electrical hardware for high-performance electronic systems, collaborating with other engineers to ensure optimal design.

Responsibilities
Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies
Lead the design of electrical hardware systems, including power distribution, signal integrity, and high-speed interfaces
Develop and review electrical schematics for digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits
Define component selection, power budgets, and design constraints to meet system requirements
Ensure compliance with electrical design standards, EMI/EMC requirements, and thermal management considerations
Perform design reviews for manufacturability, assembly, and test (DFM, DFA, DFT)
Generate and maintain all necessary documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and test plans
Interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues and ensure quality
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on best practices in electrical hardware design
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards
Qualification
Required
Understand and comply with F5 internal processes and requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
7+ years of experience in electrical hardware design for high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal systems
Proficiency with schematic capture and hardware design tools (e.g., Cadence, Altium, Mentor Graphics)
Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal considerations
Experience with the following: Intel x86 motherboard design, high-speed interfaces (DDR4/5, PCIe g5, Ethernet 100G/ 400G/ 800G), electrical design for Altera and Xilinx FPGAs, CPU VR power supply design, system-level integration
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred
Experience with regulatory compliance (UL, CE, FCC) and reliability testing
Proficient with Siemens (Mentor Graphics) Xpedition Enterprise
