Director of Childcare Program

Bay Area Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Director of the Special Needs Daycare to oversee the leadership, management, and daily operations of the program. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality care for children with special needs, compliance with regulations, staff supervision, and family engagement.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the daycare, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
Develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with state childcare licensing standards and organizational policies
Establish and monitor program goals, curriculum, and schedules that meet the needs of children with special needs
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate daycare staff
Provide ongoing coaching, support, and professional development opportunities
Ensure staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians
Foster positive relationships with families, providing support and resources as needed
Build partnerships with schools, therapists, healthcare providers, and community organizations to enhance services
Prepare and manage the program budget
Maintain accurate records for enrollment, attendance, billing, and compliance
Seek funding opportunities, grants, and community support to sustain and expand services
Ensure adherence to all licensing, accreditation, and health/safety requirements
Implement emergency preparedness plans and risk management practices
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or related field
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in childcare, early intervention, or special education, including supervisory/leadership experience
Knowledge of child development and best practices for serving children with disabilities
Must have Special Needs Experience and Directors Credentialing
Ability to build strong relationships with families, staff, and community partners
Must meet state requirements for daycare directors (licensing and background checks)
Valid Driver's License and CPR/First Aid Certification

Preferred

Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or related field
