Responsibilities
Install, align, and maintain heavy industrial machinery used in plywood production, including veneer peeling machines, presses, sanders, and dryers
Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on saws, conveyors, rollers, and assembly lines
Troubleshoot mechanical issues in hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating equipment
Replace worn or damaged components such as gears, bearings, belts, pulleys, chains, and shafts
Align, calibrate, and balance machinery for optimal production efficiency
Fabricate, weld, and repair metal parts for mill equipment as needed
Operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (laser alignment tools, calipers, micrometers)
Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to maintain presses, lifts, and material handling equipment
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble production machinery safely and accurately
Inspect and maintain dust collection and ventilation systems to comply with safety standards
Assist with the installation of new production lines or machinery upgrades
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, including repairs, inspections, and adjustments
Collaborate with electricians and other maintenance personnel to resolve complex equipment issues
Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations for working with heavy equipment
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve production efficiency
Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and machinery
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 2–5 years of millwright or industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a plywood, lumber, or wood products mill
Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating equipment
Experience with motors, pumps, conveyors, presses, gearboxes, and industrial machinery
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, laser alignment tools)
Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery independently
Knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations for industrial environments
Ability to work flexible schedules, including swing shifts and overtime
Physical ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs., climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, stick)
