RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center is seeking a Research Associate to support the day-to-day operations of clinical research initiatives. This role involves direct interaction with patients and clinical staff, coordination of study activities, data collection and management, and assistance with research presentations and outcomes reporting.

Responsibilities

Manage daily operations of assigned clinical research projects, ensuring adherence to study protocols and timelines
Engage with patients, nurses, and physicians during the patient enrollment process for clinical studies
Collect patient-reported outcomes, perform medical imaging review and measurements, and gather relevant clinical data
Conduct telephone interviews with study participants and track patients across all required study collection points
Enter, submit, and maintain accurate clinical research data within study databases
Oversee aspects of an automated patient engagement system, including:
Coordinating with nursing staff to support patient education, enrollment, activation, and system use
Assisting patients with utilization and troubleshooting of the system
Support data collection and processing for bundled care patient-reported outcomes initiatives
Assist with retrospective chart review studies by extracting clinical data from the electronic medical record (EMR) and generating organized spreadsheet datasets
Learn and effectively utilize multiple medical software platforms, including medical records, billing, patient scheduling, clinical outcomes, and medical imaging systems
Assist in the preparation of clinical and research presentations, including development of PowerPoint materials

Required

Bachelor's degree in a health sciences, biology, public health, or related field preferred
Strong organizational and data management skills with high attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and comfort interacting with patients and clinical staff
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to learn and navigate multiple clinical and research software systems

Preferred

Prior experience in clinical research or healthcare settings is a plus
