Responsibilities

You will manage the entire lifecycle of advanced flight systems, from planning and design to production, integration, and testing
You will collaborate with government partners and the United States Air Force to define project requirements, plans, and budgets
You will develop requirements and budgets for science and technology experiments, manage contracts, and coordinate diverse government and contractor teams
You will act as a key advisor to senior leadership and high-level working groups on technical matters for advanced systems
You will lead progress reviews with stakeholders and evaluate advanced science and technologies like aerodynamics and flight systems design

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or NH-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate professional engineering experience managing the full lifecycle of reentry system test and flight-test programs, including requirements, budgets, and contracts with government and industry partners
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Degree: Engineering
The program must lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET
The program must include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE)
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology
