Responsibilities

You will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department Point Loma branch within the Nuclear Fluid Systems and Mechanical Engineering Division
You will provide technical and administrative supervision over the engineers in the Branch
You will review and approve formal instructions applying nuclear engineering requirements and radiological controls as they apply to all work under the branch cognizance
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department and Shipyard cost control procedures and for the accuracy of charging practices within the Branch

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Experience engineering the aspects of work pertaining to construction, overhaul, repair and modification of valves associated with a nuclear reactor plant
Experience providing engineering direction for the reactor plant including correction of deficiencies
Experience leading a team in resolution of complex problems discovered during work on the reactor plant or associated system
Experience coaching and mentoring engineers in work planning, execution, and problem solving associated with the nuclear reactor plant
Applicants must possess a degree in Engineering
The program must lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET
The program must include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics
Combination of education and experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE)
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field
