Administrator of Security and Behavior
West Ada School District is seeking a collaborative leader to serve as their Administrator of Security and Behavior. This role involves overseeing district-wide safety, security, and behavior systems to support student success and staff well-being across the district.
Education
Responsibilities
Provide leadership for districtwide school safety and security programs, including building security, access control, surveillance systems, and emergency communications
Ensure consistent implementation of safety and security standards across all district facilities
Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments and oversee corrective actions
Collaborate with Operations teams (Facilities, Maintenance, Transportation, and Technology) to ensure safe, secure, and well-maintained school environments
Serve as the district lead for crisis response, emergency preparedness, and incident management
Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of district and school emergency operations plans
Ensure alignment with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS)
Provide training and support to administrators and staff related to emergency response procedures
Lead or support district-level response to critical incidents and coordinate with local, state, and federal emergency responders
Facilitate after-action reviews and continuous improvement following incidents
Lead the development and implementation of districtwide behavior systems grounded in Positive Behavior Supports (PBS)
Ensure classrooms and schools are safe, inclusive, and behaviorally supportive of academic learning
Collaborate with school leaders to integrate PBS within MTSS and instructional practices
Analyze behavior, discipline, and safety data to guide prevention and intervention strategies
Support professional learning related to behavior management, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practices
Provide guidance and support to building administrators in implementing safety and behavior systems
Coordinate staffing, deployment, and training of safety and behavior personnel
Partner with Student Services, Operations, and other district departments to align efforts and resources
Serve as liaison to law enforcement, emergency management, and community partners
Develop and recommend district policies, administrative procedures, and protocols related to safety, security, and behavior
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Prepare reports and presentations for district leadership and the Board of Trustees
Manage assigned budgets and resources
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Educational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Public Safety, Emergency Management or closely related field
Idaho Administrative credential, POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certification or other closely related advanced training or certification in school safety, threat assessment, or emergency management highly preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school safety, law enforcement, security, school administration, or a related field, including at least three (3) years in a leadership or administrative role
Experience supervising staff and leading complex systems
Knowledge of school safety practices, incident response, emergency management, and behavior supports
Training in or demonstrated knowledge of NIMS and ICS
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and confidential matters simultaneously
Must have a valid Idaho driver's license and a vehicle to drive and/or they must provide their own transportation for job related activities
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, radio, and other communication devices, and to understand verbal instructions and emergency communications
Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, to read and interpret written materials, digital displays, security monitoring systems, and emergency communications, and to review, evaluate, and prepare reports and other written documents
Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, to operate standard office equipment, computers, communication devices, and security or safety-related equipment
Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, balance, stamina, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, to move quickly throughout school campuses and district facilities; navigate stairs and uneven surfaces; enter and exit vehicles; and respond promptly during emergency or crisis situations
Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, reach, or stand for extended periods of time
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Law enforcement, security leadership and/or building administrator experience preferred
Experience implementing Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) preferred
