Responsibilities

May supervise others engaged in performing fiscal, personnel, legislation, accounting, record keeping, special projects, grants, contracts or related support or operational type duties
Within guidelines set by supervisor, establishes procedures in handling administrative details
Administers an operational program within the guidelines set by ordinance or other legislative actions
In accordance with detailed instructions, may serve as supervisor's representative at meetings and on committees
May serve as liaison between supervisor and other departments or division's; supervises and assists subordinates in routine public contract work
Assists with the preparation and administration of the annual budget for a department
Compiles data for and prepares monthly, annual and special reports
Performs related research work and participates in specialized projects

Required

A minimum of 60 college credits and six (6) months of experience in a variety of responsible, administrative assignments, preferably in the public sector
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience
Proof of education in the form of 60 college credits (or transcripts) from an accredited college or university
Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency
Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted
If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts indicating degree completion must be submitted
Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts
To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: copy of high school diploma, or equivalent, OR any higher accredited degree such as an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's degree or higher
Applicants must provide a valid email address in order to receive notification of eligibility
Applicants, including City of Miami employees, must completely detail their work experience on the employment application or risk being disqualified
Resumes are not required and will not be reviewed in place of the employment application
It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all required documents submitted with the employment application are in a format that is acceptable, clear and legible for eligibility determination or risk being disqualified
Veterans Preference is awarded in accordance with Florida State Statute 295.07
If veteran's preference is being claimed, it must be indicated on the application form and proper documentation, including all forms DD-214 (Member 4) and the applicable FDVA- Veteran's Preference Certification Form(s) in accordance with rule 55A-7.013 - Documentation of Preference Claim, must be submitted with the employment application
