Responsibilities
Perform semi-skilled and skilled work in several trades within the youth development center/youth forestry camp (YDC/YFC) system
Provide daily upkeep and long-term maintenance of buildings and grounds
Operate the boiler plant
Function as a lead worker over semi-skilled workers completing carpentry, heating, cooling, painting, masonry, and electrical work
Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, steam lines for heating, steam traps, radiator valves, and install pipe for water lines
Apply solid maintenance knowledge to complete assignments and ensure work complies with federal, state and agency regulations
Recommend repair or replacement of equipment, requisition supplies, and drive vehicles to pick up and deliver parts, materials, and equipment
Qualification
Required
Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
You must have possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C non-commercial driver's license
You must be willing to accept employment at Southeast Youth Development Center and commute to this location in Montgomery County
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
