Pharmacist Facility Program Manager - Informatics
The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Pharmacist Facility Program Manager specializing in Informatics at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center. Responsibilities
Maintains electronic health record (EHR) pharmacy information files and order menus, in collaboration with another Informaticist Pharmacist
Data Manager responsibilities including pulling data utilizing SQL and other modalities for A3/MUE/pharmacoeconomic/PGY1 and PGY2 projects that are formalized pharmacy process improvement activities by creating code, validating results and providing in a usable/logical format; providing data for service and facility leadership and FOIA requests; managing Pharmacy Service SharePoint site (posting documents, modifying site content, assign access keys); creating/maintaining dashboards to display Pharmacy Service KPI (key performance indicators); creating/maintaining program to visually display real-time data of select KPI to drive daily performance in the operational settings (such as; for outpatient: pharmacy wait time, total pending prescriptions, number of pending prescriptions over 6 days old and for inpatient: pending orders, order verification wait time, missing dose rate, AOU restock rate, Omnicell restock rate, pending orders, order verification wait time)
Maintains an in-depth working knowledge of all forms of pharmacy automation in the inpatient and outpatient settings (e.g., Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC), Anesthesia Work Stations (AWS), Omnicell XR2 Robot, Med-Carousel, Yuyama, ScriptPro) to ensure continual optimization, troubleshooting, training, quality assurance audits and electronic access to users
Actively participates in precepting trainees (i.e., pharmacy residents and pharmacy students) as assigned

Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification
Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia
Knowledge of Professional Pharmacy Practices
Residency and fellowship training programs in a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice may be substituted for creditable experience on a year-for-year basis
Qualifying experience must be at a level comparable to pharmacy experience at the next lower level
Part-time experience as a professional pharmacist is credited according to its relationship to the full-time workweek
In addition to the GS-13 basic requirements for employment stated above, you must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) and must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs): Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions
Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program area
Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibilities to maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise
Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or specialty area of pharmacy
Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic parameters
Preferred
Expertise and proficiency in drug file structure and maintenance, data management skills (including data mining and creating dashboards and other visual displays), pharmacy automation, inpatient and outpatient pharmacy workflow, and excellent verbal communication skills are highly desired
Prior work experience as an Informatics Pharmacist (especially within VA or DoD) is highly desired
