Responsibilities

Basic office assistant/receptionist work such as answering phones, emails, filing, photocopying, and running errands
Reserving conference rooms at the college for staff and faculty using our event management software
Setting up, supervising, breaking down, and inventorying concert equipment (including amps, PAs, mixers, microphones, keyboards, cables, etc.)
Meeting with artists/managers to plan, produce, and engineer Loft concerts
Sound engineering 1-2 student and faculty Loft concerts per week (depending on Loft busyness): setting up and breaking down all equipment, running sound checks, live mixing performances, improvising technical solutions/workarounds, supervising the show overall
Providing technical support and assistance with concert equipment and conference room technology
Availability both during business hours (office work, meeting with artists) and evenings(working Loft shows)
Assisting with event coverage at high-profile events, during which, duties may include greeting guests, working the check-in table, and assisting with last minute details

Required

Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN)
Remain in 'valid' Visa status as applicable
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester
Federal Work Study student may apply
In good disciplinary standing
Must be located in the U.S
Professionalism and maturity
Solid communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Experience with sound equipment and sound mixing
Basic software skills for word processing, spreadsheet and databases
Adaptability and flexibility under pressure

Preferred

Experience in an administrative or office setting
Live sound mixing and live show production
Mixing and recording music of various genres (i.e. pop, rock, indie, jazz, classical, musical theater, etc.)
Proficiency with recording techniques and software in a live setting (including micing techniques, hardware/software I/O routing and bussing, live outboard effects, etc.)
Familiarity with concert production planning processes
