$40/hr - $40/hrGiGa-Ops Global Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Switchboards/Switchgear to join their engineering team in Sumter, SC. The engineer will be responsible for executing customer orders through detailed mechanical design reviews, component layouts, and supporting the order lifecycle from engineering review to production shipment.

Responsibilities
Review and validate switchboard and switchgear order documentation from the Electrical COE team, including:
Outline drawings
Unit schedules
Wiring diagrams
BidMan quick prints
AP requisitions
Maintain and update BidMan files with accurate door and cover dimensions in line with current design standards
Cross-check and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in BidMan against Eaton design standards for ETO switchboard orders
Finalize BOMs in DA Mechanical and ensure accurate transfer to ERP systems for production planning
Develop complete Manufacturing Information (MI) packages using Bid Manager, AutoCAD, and Plant Order Manager
Design custom fabricated mechanical components such as bus bars, doors, covers, and enclosures using AutoCAD and 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Create final BOMs from 3D models and release models and drawings in ENOVIA
Release final drawing packages through Plant Order Manager
Collaborate with customers, channel partners, Field Sales, and Eaton Care through plant visits, training sessions, and customer-facing interactions
Support continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to design standards and pick tables
Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve quality and process issues
Assist satellite plants with design reviews and successful product implementation
Ensure all products comply with applicable codes and standards, including UL, NEC, NEMA, and OSHPD
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Experience in switchboards, switchgear, or power distribution equipment
Strong hands-on experience with AutoCAD and 3D CAD modeling tools
Experience working in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environment
Solid understanding of BOM creation, validation, and ERP integration
Knowledge of applicable electrical and mechanical standards (UL, NEC, NEMA)
Preferred
Experience with Siemens, ABB, Legrand, or Schneider products
Exposure to ENOVIA, BidMan, DA Mechanical, Plant Order Manager
Manufacturing floor or assembly support experience
