Electrical Plans Examiner II - Planning & Development (Underfill Opportunity)
The City of Phoenix is seeking an Electrical Plans Examiner II to join their Planning & Development Department. This role involves reviewing and examining complex electrical plans for compliance with city codes and national standards, while providing technical assistance to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Performing simple engineering computations to analyze the installation of electrical components and equipment
Responding to inquiries from reviewers, inspectors, architects, engineers, and others regarding electrical code requirements
Evaluating tests and other data for suitability of electrical methods of construction or installation
Identifying inadequacies found in electrical construction documents and specifications, and requires corrections be made to meet the requirements of City codes and engineering standards
Qualification
Required
Two years of experience examining and evaluating electrical plans for multi-story residential, tenant improvements, and small commercial projects to ensure compliance with the City electrical code, two years at the level of Electrical Plans Examiner I, supplemented by courses in electrical engineering
By the end of probation, must obtain both of the following: IAEI Electrical Inspector/Plan Review and ICC Electrical Plans Examiner (E3)
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
Three years of experience in electrical code enforcement including inspection of construction installation, supplemented by courses in electrical engineering
By the end of probation, must obtain ONE of the following Certifications: ICC Electrical Plans Examiner OR IAEI Electrical Inspector, Plan Review
