Ambulance Billing Administrative Aide - Fire Department
The City of Phoenix is seeking an Ambulance Billing Administrative Aide to join the Phoenix Fire Department, which has provided 9-1-1 ambulance services since 1985. This role involves performing prebilling audits, submitting claims, and processing refunds while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities
Audit the EMS incident reports to bill for fees associated with 911 transports
Search for and verify patient and insurance information (name, address, phone, insurance eligibility, etc.)
Verify insurance eligibility with State, Federal, and commercial insurance plans
Determine level of service, treatment, and supply fees
Assign ICD-10 codes for standard billing to insurance companies
Prepare and reconcile daily transport ticket batches
Take phone calls from patients, insurances, and other associated parties
Answer billing questions; resolve billing issues; obtain and update patient and insurance information
Review information from documents received from hospitals and patients, and update accounts accordingly
Receive and process credit card payments (phone / mail)
Submit electronic and paper claims to multiple payors
Perform quality assurance tasks daily, weekly, and monthly
Qualification
Required
Four years of experience performing clerical duties
OR Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position

Ambulance coding (ICD10 and HCPCS)

CAD/RMS and/or ZOI EPCR
