Energy Council Policy Analyst

Responsibilities

Assist the Chair of the Energy Council and the other members of the Energy Council to fulfill the Council’s duties and achieve long-term goals for energy planning and development
Work closely with the Chair to shape the Council’s strategic vision
Work closely with executive branch staff to coordinate tasks and facilitate the flow of information to the Energy Council
Work with the Chair to set agendas, schedules meetings, and communicate with the Energy Council members
Work with the Utah Attorney General’s Office to ensure Energy Council compliance with relevant statutes, including compliance with the Utah Open and Public Meetings Act
Provide staff support to Energy Council members on specific projects
Establish long-term objectives and create realistic plans to achieve those objectives working with a wide variety of stakeholders

Required

Experience staffing a state government board or commission, including agenda development, meeting coordination, and direct support to members
Working knowledge of Utah energy policy, western energy markets, and the statutory framework governing energy planning and development
Understanding of Utah's Open and Public Meetings Act and public records requirements, with experience supporting compliance
Experience coordinating with executive branch staff, legal counsel, and subject matter experts to advance policy objectives
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail
Ability to facilitate discussion and respond effectively to conflicting direction from diverse board or commission members
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing briefing materials, policy summaries, and analytical documents
Experience setting long-term objectives and developing practical plans with a wide range of stakeholders
